Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club to Host 2nd Horse and Hound Event

15/02/2017

The Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club will host its second Horse and Hound event on Friday 17 February 2017 following the success of its inaugural event earlier in the year. The event, sponsored by Mitsubishi (Al Habtoor Motors), is a family day out devoted to horses and dogs. The event, in partnership with Pet’s Delight, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entry costs AED 50 per adult (12+). Children 12 and under are free.

The Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club is a new equestrian residential and leisure development in Dubailand offering state-of-the-art equine facilities as well as polo, dressage and showing jumping classes.

Organisers are expecting a big turnout following the inaugural event in January which attracted over 1,000 people.

“The response from the first event was overwhelming”, said Habtoor Al Habtoor, Deputy Chairman of the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club “The Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club is the perfect location for an event like this which brings the community together with dogs and horses in a country-style environment boasting exceptional vast open spaces in a beautiful setting.”

The Mitsubishi Horse and Hound event, which will hold a regular spot on the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club calendar, will include a special riding display by quadrille riders from TeamZ7, an international organization of riders across different disciplines founded by H.H. Sheikha Maitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

There will be multiple competitions throughout the day for horses and hounds including speed jumping – where dog and handler have to run an obstacle course. Other categories include dog with the waggiest tail, young handler and dog the judge would most like to take home. There will be several classes exclusive to horses including Gymkhana games, fancy dress and best young rider.

Dog handlers must present vaccination booklets, which will be verified by Two Feet Four Paws veterinary clinic, to be eligible to enter the grounds.

In addition, there will be plenty of activities to keep children happy including bouncy castles, face painting, arts and crafts and pony rides. Food and beverage vendors will also be on hand to provide refreshments throughout the day.
